“I don’t know how you do it all.”
I used to hear this all the time from well-meaning friends and colleagues. My response was always “What choice do I have?”
With 2 young kids both diagnosed as neurodivergent, a partner that was on the road for his job for weeks on end, and a high-stress career involving long hours, travel and tight deadlines (but great pay), the truth was… I might have been doing it but I was also absolutely EXHAUSTED!
Trying to be there for everyone else was, quite literally, killing me.
I wanted more…more time for me, more time to be creative, more freedom and flexibility to do the things that I knew could make greater impact — in my work and with my family. And ultimately, for myself.
I knew I had to learn to do it…differently. For the next decade I researched and studied the best practices of successful leaders that had created massive positive impact in the world and also stayed true to themselves. They weren’t workaholics, they had great lives filled with connection and joy. I implemented many of these practices with my clients through change management and organizational transformation initiatives, but it wasn’t enough. I noticed that our existing governance and decision-making approaches often created resistance and obstacles to achieving success, even when it was desired. I learned (and taught) how to do it…differently to create long-lasting and soul-nourishing success.
Now my mission is to help people who know that better is possible take the steps to create meaningful and positive impact, and start to love their work and their lives.
